The Danish Girl: Film Review


The trailers for The Danish Girl brought tears to my eyes and I expected it to be as powerful and emotional as The Theory of Everything, but I can sadly report that I was disappointed. I went in with tissues, preparing to be seriously moved, so I was very surprised by how little this affected me.

Michael Keaton stars as Riggan, a washed-up actor who quit a popular action hero franchise and is now trying to prove himself as a legitimate talent by writing, directing and starring in a Broadway play. This comedy has a unique filming style so it looks like it was all shot in one take. Great support cast including Edward Norton and Emma Stone who need awards for their roles! The Theory of Everything: Film Review


I will be so bummed if Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones don’t receive any awards for this. The dedication he put in to achieving the physicality of Professor Stephen Hawking is worthy of an Oscar. Such a commitment. Jones is also deserving – her portrayal of his first wife Jane is so emotional and you can see the toll being a carer for her husband has taken.
