Now I love me some fashion, and after a sad day like today I need to distract myself by looking through the red carpet outfits from the 2016 Golden Globes Sunday night.

Emmys 2015: Best & Worst Dressed

Awards season is officially underway, which means more red carpet fashion analysis woohoo! I’m not huge into fashion but I love checking out what the celebs choose for these fancy ceremonies. One of my favourites from last night’s Emmys is Emma Roberts, who looks absolutely gorgeous in this pale gown. I have just given the highlights of the best & worst, but I must admit, most fell into the ‘meh’ category, where was just boring and uninspired so they got ignored. The ones I have chosen inspire a reaction.

My top 5 Orange is the New Black characters

oitnb

Orange is the New Black returned with a bang last week and I personally think this season is the best. Each character has found their groove, I have laughed more than ever and the back stories are even more hard hitting. This is one of the only shows that has so many characters that are all so different, with unique voices, stories, backgrounds and cultures. I find them so fascinating. So before I gush over the show too much, here’s my favourite Litchfield inmates.

Hayden Panettiere - my fave look of the night

Hayden Panettiere – my fave look of the night

So the Emmys are the biggest awards for TV stars so they all try to bring them A-game. Some of these gowns are Oscar-worthy and I was so impressed by the choices on display. To be fair, they weren’t many badly dressed people. There were a couple of stand-out awful dresses and in the middle ground were those that looked great but did not grab my attention. I’m going to start with best dressed, which was hands-down lead by Hayden Panettiere (above) who looked stunning with her baby bump. The rest continue below…

Top Films for May

American Pie: Reunion

I simply cannot wait for this! I absolutely loved the first three movies (the other straight-to-DVD movies don’t count) and I’m sure this will be just as good. All the old cast are back and it is going to be sweet! It will be interesting to see how the characters have moved on in their adult life- for example, Jim (Jason Biggs) is married to Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) and they have a two-year-old son. The film is set thirteen years after graduation so naturally the boys have drifted apart a bit but that will all change when they get together for their high school reunion. I can’t wait to hear the banter between Stifler, Jim, Oz, Finch and Kevin. American Wedding was in 2003 so I’m sure everyone will be gagging for this. I reckon it will be more of a nostalgia thing and I can’t see anybody new to the franchise being that into it. But still, I love them and I can see myself loving this too.

The Lucky One

Zac Efron bulks up to play a Marine in this movie and damn does he look good! Efron plays Logan, a Marine who finds a picture of a woman while in Iraq and believes it gives him the luck to survive out there. Once he returns from Iraq, he is intent on finding this woman so he tracks her down in a small town. Beth (Taylor Schilling) knows nothing about this picture and despite her reservations at first, a romance soon blossoms between them. This does not please her ex-husband, who does everything he can to split them up. While the plot is totally far-fetched, I want to see it because I’m intrigued to see Zac in his first proper grown-up role plus it is based on a Nicholas Sparks book, which means it will tug at the heart strings!

Silent House

Elizabeth Olsen stars in this horror as a young woman named Sarah who is terrorised in her family holiday home while preparing it for sale. She gets trapped inside the house and is unable to contact the outside world as things get increasingly strange. The trailer doesn’t reveal the full details of the story and instead builds up the atmosphere and tension, making you want to know what is happening to the girl. The film has been marketed as being shown in one sequence, meaning it is shot to look like it is happening in real time with handheld cameras and no obvious cuts. Despite the shaky camerawork, I don’t believe it is in the “found footage” style. It will be interesting to see how that works because you won’t be able to show any sort of back story. I’m very intrigued.

Dark Shadows

Johnny Depp stars with an all-star cast in the latest Tim Burton offering. The offbeat comedy sees Depp starring as Barnabus Collins, who was turned into a vampire in the 18th century after being cursed by a witch (Eva Green). He is accidentally freed from his coffin and finds himself in modern day. He returns to his old mansion to find his weird descendants living there, who are all hiding dark secrets. The cast includes Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz and Johnny Lee Miller. I’m not 100% convinced that I will like this film. I’m mainly drawn to the fact that Depp is playing a vampire and I’m sure he will be great. However, I’m not sure that it works as a comedy. I reckon I would like it as more of a thriller. Anyway, I will happily be proven wrong once I’ve seen it.

What to Expect When You’re Expecting

This comedy takes its title from the non-fiction pregnancy book of the same name and follows five couples in the Atlanta area during the pregnancy stage. There doesn’t seem to be much else in the way of plot to be honest but it’s the cast that draws me in- Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Matthew Morrison, Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker, Joe Manganiello, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford. With a cast like that, it’s got to be awesome, right? I reckon the stories will interweave like Valentine’s Day. The trailer looks pretty funny and let’s not forget about Cheryl Cole’s cameo as a talent show judge. Cannot wait to see that.

Men in Black 3

Will Smith is back as Agent J! One day, J goes into the Men in Back HQ and finds that history has been rewritten and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) no longer exists. He must go back to the 60s and work with younger Agent K (Josh Brolin) to sort the mess out. I don’t really care much for the plot to be honest, I’m just happy the franchise is making a return. As long as there are crazy aliens, crazy gadgets and lots of wise-cracks, I’m a happy customer. Nicole Scherzinger and Mickey Rourke also star.
