Inheritance: Film Review

I like Lily Collins and I’m a big fan of Simon Pegg so I figured Inheritance was worth a watch – and it was not.

Terminal: Film Review

I will pretty much watch everything featuring Margot Robbie and she was in a run of films that I loved, from I, Tonya to Goodbye Christopher Robin, but that sadly comes to an end with Terminal, which is the perfect example of style over substance.

Ready Player One: Film Review

I am a massive Steven Spielberg fan but I have to admit that I wasn’t fussed about Ready Player One at all because it just looked like a massive CGI fest, which is something I cannot stand, and while it is mega CG heavy, I loved the story so much that I just didn’t care.

Star Trek Beyond: Film Review

The Star Trek movies are simply not my bag and I can’t help it – I haven’t seen any of the TV series and I don’t understand the cult appeal. Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness were good but not great (to me – I know I’m in the minority) and Star Trek Beyond is exactly the same – it’s fine, I like it enough and it’s a pleasant way to spend two hours, but I wouldn’t write home about it or watch it again.

Top Films for July

A new month is here and once again, here are the films I’m most excited about seeing – sadly, nothing on the list is an original idea and it’s mainly sequels or reboots/adaptations. There are a number of obvious choices I have missed off the list for legit reasons, such as Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (this was popular before my time), The Legend of Tarzan (I’ve seen it and I don’t recommend), Central Intelligence (it’s alright) and The Neon Demon (I don’t think I’ll like it).

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation: Film Review

By my count Tom Cruise’s agent Ethan Hunt should have died at least four times in Mission: Impossible- Rogue Nation – that is just how ridiculous the stunts have become in the franchise. I never expected the films to reach this number and I’m never blown away by them (except the 1996 original) but they are still entertaining and Tom Cruise is a brilliant action hero.

Man Up: Film Review

I feel like I haven’t seen a proper British romantic comedy in ages. The genre has been pretty unpopular in recent years, or new films try to subvert the regular formula, whereas Man Up unabashedly stays true what they should be, and it is a lot of fun.

Andy Serkis on the Jungle Book and Star Wars at Empire Film Awards

IMG_20150329_170357 Today I braved the wind and rain (and there was a lot of rain!) to check out the red carpet for the Empire Film Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. There were a ton of big names (check out the list below) but sadly most of them didn’t stop for interviews and went straight to the party. Andy Serkis, the lovely man that he is, stopped to chat to everyone and was so, so nice. Also, what a fabulous shirt choice?! So we got a few minutes with him chatting about his directing/acting job on The Jungle Book and the hush-hush roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
