The Venice Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday and I’m going to be there for the first time (AAAAAAHHH!) It is all very exciting, and here are the films I am most hyped about seeing.
Blade Runner 2049: Film Review
With sequels, there is always that concern about whether the second instalment with tarnish the reputation of the first, especially one so well-loved as Blade Runner. It was certainly a risk with Blade Runner 2049, which comes 35 years after the original, but luckily they have waited that long to make sure they have created something that is loyal to its predecessor and builds upon its success. No easy feat.

For those of you who have been living in a hole, the Oscars nominations were announced today and while it was generally surprise-free – this was the first year in the past few where you could easily predict the frontrunner – there were still a few interesting twists, snubs and additions.
La La Land: Film Review
I was so excited seeing La La Land at the London Film Festival in October and I have now seen it twice. I am also contemplating going to the cinema to see it for a third time. I am so happy for its current awards season success because it deserves it so much. As you can probably tell, I love it!

Welcome to a new year, and more importantly, a new month for films! Unfortunately for us in the UK, this is the time when all the Oscar-bait movies the US had aaages ago are finally released, but at least we can finally see what the hype is all about – and you are in for some treats!
