The Lost City of Z: Film Review

The Lost City of Z is one of those films that are annoying to review because my feelings about it are complicated and conflicting. It is a fascinating story and I liked it, but I would have enjoyed it way more had it been given a substantial trim because it is too long and slow.

Stephenie Meyer’s oh-so-silly Twilight cash-in

You may have thought the Twilight phenomenon was over – Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson managed to put Bella Swan and Edward Cullen behind them after Breaking Dawn: Part II finished in 2012 and set their sights onto proving their “serious” acting chops. So I thought the craze was done – but no, author Stephanie Meyer has revived it by releasing a new version of the original book.

Life: Film Review

James Dean is such a captivating character so it is no surprise he is being played in a film again, this time by Dane DeHaan. Luckily, this is not a straight-up biopic, but simply a moment in his life around the time he poses for his iconic Times Square photograph, in the rain with a cigarette. This is a pretty interesting idea, but not one which could sustain my enthusiasm throughout the entire film.
