1917 won Best Drama and Best Director for Sam Mendes at the Golden Globes on Sunday and there’s a reason for that. I honestly didn’t think it was going to win over the likes of The Irishman but I was pleasantly surprised and I hope this love continues throughout awards season.
Rocketman: Film Review
I was extremely excited for Rocketman because I love Taron Egerton (a well-known fact about me) and a lot of Elton John‘s songs so it was a winning combination. However, I didn’t feel completely satisfied with the story and was left wanting more.
Romeo and Juliet: Theatre Review
I have never seen Romeo and Juliet on the stage, which may be considered some type of crime for an avid theatregoer like me. So what better introduction than a production starring the gorgeous Lily James and Richard Madden, who recently worked together on Disney’s Cinderella?
Bastille Day: Film Review
What an expected delight Bastille Day is. I was bracing myself for this really dumb, mind-numbing wall-to-wall action film but I was pleasantly surprised that it was far from that – it was smart, funny and with an actual plot. I had no hope for it and I totally love it. It’s brilliant when film takes you by surprise – I was positively beaming at the end!
Top Films for April
It is the start of April so surprise surprise here is my U.K. preview for April! There are quite a few decent-looking movies coming out this month but I’ve managed to whittle it down to just the five best. I still think Criminal, Eye in the Sky and Miles Ahead look pretty decent, but in terms of excitement, the ones below are where it’s at.

Pictures from the Cinderella Exhibition
An exhibition has been launched to celebrate the upcoming U.K. release of Cinderella and it features the costumes, sets and props from the Disney reboot. It was amazing! I enjoyed it more than the movie. While I didn’t like the new adaptation (read my review), I couldn’t deny how gorgeous it looked so it was great to see everything up close.
Cinderella: Film Review
I had hoped by taking an old Disney tale and revamping it for the modern day, Cinderella would be updated and have a modern feel. It turned out to be the opposite – this was far too old-fashioned, traditional and literally a copy of the 1950 Disney animation so it didn’t feel fresh or exciting.
