I’m still not over the shock of Parasite of winning Best Picture and three other prizes (what an amazing, historic moment!) but it’s time to put that to one side for a minute and look at the fashion.
Vox Lux: Film Review
Natalie Portman knows how to give a good performance – she has the Best Actress Oscar to prove it after all – and she doesn’t disappoint in Vox Lux.
Vox Lux: LFF Film Review
Natalie Portman knows how to give a good performance – she has the Best Actress Oscar to prove it after all – and she doesn’t disappoint in Vox Lux, a last-minute addition to the LFF programme.
What I’m excited to see at the Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday and I’m going to be there for the first time (AAAAAAHHH!) It is all very exciting, and here are the films I am most hyped about seeing.
Annihilation: Film Review
I was fuming when I read that UK audiences wouldn’t be getting Annihilation in cinemas. It felt unfair that we had to watch this effects-heavy sci-fi movie in our homes on Netflix when North America got it on the big screen. Something this good deserved a better setting than my measly TV with standard audio in my shared house to be honest.
Oscar nominations 2017: Hits, Misses & Shockers
For those of you who have been living in a hole, the Oscars nominations were announced today and while it was generally surprise-free – this was the first year in the past few where you could easily predict the frontrunner – there were still a few interesting twists, snubs and additions.
Jackie: Film Review
Natalie Portman has been receiving all the nominations and acclaim for her portrayal of former U.S. First Lady Jackie Kennedy in this biopic and it’s clear to see why.
Top Films for January 2017
Welcome to a new year, and more importantly, a new month for films! Unfortunately for us in the UK, this is the time when all the Oscar-bait movies the US had aaages ago are finally released, but at least we can finally see what the hype is all about – and you are in for some treats!
Planetarium: LFF Film Review
I was intrigued to see Planetarium by Rebecca Zlotowski because it’d never seen Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and French actress Vanessa Paradis, on the big screen nor had I seen Natalie Portman speaking predominantly French in a movie.
Jane Got a Gun: Film Review
Jane Got a Gun had a seriously troubled production and that has overshadowed the movie somewhat. Natalie Portman has been attached since 2012 and the movie has been ready for release since 2014 and after a series of delays it has finally arrived. When something has taken that long you expect it to be incredible, but this is just alright so I’m disappointed.
