Twin Peaks season review: Far too long and slow, but with some delightful moments

Yesterday I wrote about the season finale of the Twin Peaks revival series and now I’ve processed that (only just!) I can reflect on the whole series.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant – Film Review

div1

The issue with the Divergent franchise is that it has always been far too similar, and not as good as, The Hunger Games, which also suffered a slump in its third movie because the final book was unnecessarily split into two films – an obvious money-spinning ploy which negatively impacts the momentum and energy of the movies. The Divergent series has never been amazing, but Allegiant is a new low that won’t even please fans of the novel.

Oscars 2016: Best & Worst Dressed

margot crop

We have finally reached the end of the film awards season! It felt like we would never get there but yes, the Oscars, the pinnacle of everything, happened Sunday night. Sure, the prizes are a good talking point but this is ALL about the fashion. This is the biggie – the event everyone saves their best for, and there were some damn good outfits on display.

My Top 10 Movies of 2015

ex1

Looking back over the past year, there have been some pretty damn good films. But I still had trouble picking my top ten – finding the first six was easy, but the remaining four were not as convincing. So many films I liked at the time, but over the passing months have left little impression. I finally managed to bring you my annual list, which is presented in no particular order.

Emmys 2015: Best & Worst Dressed

Awards season is officially underway, which means more red carpet fashion analysis woohoo! I’m not huge into fashion but I love checking out what the celebs choose for these fancy ceremonies. One of my favourites from last night’s Emmys is Emma Roberts, who looks absolutely gorgeous in this pale gown. I have just given the highlights of the best & worst, but I must admit, most fell into the ‘meh’ category, where was just boring and uninspired so they got ignored. The ones I have chosen inspire a reaction.

My top 5 natural disaster movies

san andreas

San Andreas was released in cinemas this week (read my review) and it is all about the biggest earthquake ever registered on the Richter scale. It is big, epic and makes full use of CGI technology. Natural disaster movies are tough to crack – they usually end up being very cliched, cheesy with 2D characters. While I’m not saying my following top 5 are immune to these pitfalls, I still love them and I think of them fondly when talk of the genre comes up.

While We’re Young: Film Review

Celebrities On The Set of "While We Were Young" In New York City - September 24, 2013

This comedy-drama has an amazing cast full of actors I love – Naomi Watts, Ben Stiller, Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried. Ben and Naomi are Josh and Cornelia, who are married without children, who befriend a 20-something married couple Jamie (Driver) and Darby (Seyfried) who completely change the way they look at their lives and marriage.

Insurgent: Film Review

ins2

I have been bitching about the Divergent sequel Insurgent for ages because I was not impressed by the trailer and it seemed like a completely different film to the first one. It has a different feel and look, sure, as there is a new director (Robert Schwentke), but I liked it as much as, if it not more than, Divergent. I feel like the franchise has found its feet and this is a proper action movie.

Golden Globes 2015: Best & Worst Dressed

yes2

The awards season is here so OBVIOUSLY I’m going to be analysing red carpet fashion and giving my top picks and lesser picks. For the Golden Globes, there weren’t many that made me go ‘wow’ – most of them were pretty but safe and even those that I consider ‘worst dressed’ weren’t THAT bad. They just made me react in a bad way – but at least they made me react – some people gave me nothing. Emma Stone is my clear winner – her outfit is FAB. If I had to attend an awards show, that is what I would wear.
