After the shambles of 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, I was pretty much done with the franchise and not at all excited for Dark Phoenix. Despite this, I tried to go in with an open mind and it’s actually quite good. It has a lot of problems, but I was entertained for the most part.
The Snowman: Film Review
There are a lot of excellent serial killer/murder mysteries on TV but they just haven’t been done right on film in a while, like The Girl on the Train, and I was confident The Snowman, based on the Jo Nesbo book, could change that -but unfortunately it did not.

Alien: Covenant – Film Review
I am a big fan of the Alien franchise and I personally liked Prometheus (I know many didn’t) so I had massively high hopes for Alien: Covenant. Sadly, it isn’t the resounding success I hoped for. Top Films for May 2017

My top ten: Films I’m excited for in 2017
We are rapidly approaching 2017 so it seems like the right moment to look ahead at what movies we can be excited about this coming year.
The Light Between Oceans: Film Review
I had wanted to see The Light Between Oceans for a while because I love Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander separately so I had to see their joint effort, especially as this is where their romance began. Their performances are brilliant, as is their chemistry, but the film as a whole is a very heavy, emotionally intense slog.
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander joke about at The Light Between Oceans press conference
Hot showbiz couple Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander returned to London last week with director Derek Cianfrance for another promo stop for their upcoming romance drama The Light Between Oceans.
Trespass Against Us: LFF Film Review
I’ve got quite used to seeing Michael Fassbender in big blockbusters like Prometheus and X-Men or even period pieces like Macbeth but we haven’t seen him play a common British criminal in ages (if ever) so I mainly wanted to see Trespass Against Us for that reason.
