Hacksaw Ridge: Film Review


I’m not the biggest fan of war movies but I was encouraged to see Hacksaw Ridge after it received a 10-minute standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival in September. It’s now obvious to see why. This is probably the best war movie made in recent years and features some extraordinary performances.

Mad Max: Fury Road Film Review


Full disclosure – Mad Max: Fury Road never appealed to me. The trailer was totally insane and I was not even slightly inclined to see it but I’m never one to pass up a free screening. I watched all of Mel Gibson’s original trilogy in preparation but that is unnecessary – you won’t have a clue what is going on in this whether you’re new to the franchise or not.
