I’m feeling positive about True Detective season 3

After season 2 of True Detective well and truly flopped, I was ready to throw in the towel and not bother with any other instalments, but then they announced Mahershala Ali as the lead and that changed everything, so I had to give it a go. And I’m glad I did.

My Christopher Nolan top five

Christopher Nolan‘s latest effort Dunkirk comes out on Friday and while I’m in the minority of people who didn’t love it (read my review here), it certainly makes my top five.

Gold: Film Review

I’m not the biggest Matthew McConaughey fan and Gold just sounded like the 2017 version of The Wolf of Wall Street so I didn’t really have high hopes. My expectations were all wrong – Gold is fascinating and funny at the same time.

Sing: Film Review

Film Title: Sing

Sing is the perfect combo of many things I love – pop music, The X Factor-style singing competition, Taron Egerton and animated movies – so it was pretty much a given I was gonna love it and I sure did!

Free State of Jones: Film Review

I usually quite like American Civil War movies; I find them fascinating and sad all at once so it’s absolutely baffling to me that Free State of Jones was none of those things. It had some very good and emotive scenes, but they were so bogged down by slow pacing that I no longer cared.

True Detective: Why I don’t care about the finale

The 90-minute finale of True Detective Season 2 is tonight and you would expect a TV lover like me to be unable to contain my excitement to see what happens next and how the series concludes, but I literally couldn’t care less. True Detective Season 2: TV Review

Before I begin to review the season premiere of True Detective season 2, I need to point out that was not sold on the previous season. Interstellar: Film Review

My expectations were so high – because of his prior work, because I was excited for so long and because I saw headlines calling it an “epic masterpiece” – and I was disappointed. Nolan’s concept was too ambitious, too sentimental and the human touch gets lost in the science.

Films for November

I have been waiting for the release of this epic sci-fi movie for a long time and I am so ready to see this now. The plot is a closely guarded secret but we know that Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway embark on a space mission to save the human race from destructing Earth. I love everything Christopher Nolan does, I think he is a total genius, so I have very high hopes for this. Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain also star. Released: 7th November

Interstellar: U.K. Premiere

Tonight I headed to the Interstellar European premiere. It was so unorganised and the mixture of bright lighting and artificial mist have made it really difficult for me to take decent photos. Anyway, I got to see Matthew McConaughey, Sir Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Christopher Nolan. Not bad, right?
