I’m feeling positive about True Detective season 3

After season 2 of True Detective well and truly flopped, I was ready to throw in the towel and not bother with any other instalments, but then they announced Mahershala Ali as the lead and that changed everything, so I had to give it a go. And I’m glad I did.

You know what time it is! It’s the start of February which means it’s time to look forward to the cinema releases this month brings! There are quite a few awards season favourites finally coming our way as well as some high-profile sequels, such as Fifty Shades Darker, which I have deliberately missed off (I’m not that bothered about seeing it).

Moonlight: LFF Film Review

All I knew about Moonlight was that it was positively received at Telluride Film Festival in September, it starred Naomie Harris and it’s executive produced by Brad Pitt. So I went in not knowing much about the plot or what to expect and I was completely blown away by this powerful coming-of-age type tale.

Free State of Jones: Film Review

I usually quite like American Civil War movies; I find them fascinating and sad all at once so it’s absolutely baffling to me that Free State of Jones was none of those things. It had some very good and emotive scenes, but they were so bogged down by slow pacing that I no longer cared.
