A lot of people have been doing their end of year lists since the start of December, but I like to wait a little longer just in case there is a late entry – I thought The Greatest Showman might have made it (it didn’t) – so here are my top 10 films of 2017.
BAFTA 2017 winners’ conference: My pics
Tonight it was the BAFTAs and I was there, at the winners’ press conference which meant all the prize winners came down to chat to us and I took the opportunity to take plenty of pics of stars like Emma Stone, Tom Holland, Viola Davis and Dev Patel.
Oscar nominations 2017: Hits, Misses & Shockers
For those of you who have been living in a hole, the Oscars nominations were announced today and while it was generally surprise-free – this was the first year in the past few where you could easily predict the frontrunner – there were still a few interesting twists, snubs and additions.
La La Land: Film Review
I was so excited seeing La La Land at the London Film Festival in October and I have now seen it twice. I am also contemplating going to the cinema to see it for a third time. I am so happy for its current awards season success because it deserves it so much. As you can probably tell, I love it!
Top Films for January 2017
Welcome to a new year, and more importantly, a new month for films! Unfortunately for us in the UK, this is the time when all the Oscar-bait movies the US had aaages ago are finally released, but at least we can finally see what the hype is all about – and you are in for some treats!
Golden Globes nominations 2017: The comedy/musical section is obsolete
The Golden Globe nominations came out today and you can read the full list here. The reason the Golden Globes annoy me is because they divide all the acting categories between drama and musical/comedy and frankly, there hasn’t been enough awards-worthy roles in the latter so it’s been filled with some questionable entries. Surely it’s time to just combine all the movie acting categories?
My top ten London Film Festival recommendations
I saw a bucketload of films at this year’s London Film Festival. Seeing films in this fashion is very tiring but it also helps you sort out the good from the bad, the outstanding to the mediocre very easily so here are the top ten films that stood out at LFF this year (click on the titles to read the full review):
La La Land: LFF Film Review
I have not been this excited about a film since Star Wars last year and following the critical acclaim it received at the Venice Film Festival, my hype for La La Land was huge and my expectation level so high and it was exactly what I wanted and more. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it.
Top Films for 2016
2016 has well and truly kicked off so what better time to look at the movies coming up in the year ahead and get excited about some the releases to come?
