Anyone who saw my word-perfect lip-syncing effort to Let It Go during my recent 30th birthday party will know that I’m a big fan of the original Frozen. So I was a mixture of excited and nervous for this sequel and I had every right to be – Frozen 2 is good but nowhere near as amazing as its 2013 predecessor.
Top films for November
It’s the start of November which means it’s once again time to look ahead to the cinema releases I’m most excited about. We’re being well and truly spoiled this bumper month!
Golden Globes 2019: My favourite looks
People’s Choice Awards: Best & Worst Dressed
Another night, another red carpet! Last night in LA it was the People’s Choice Awards. The event isn’t as formal or prestigious as the Oscars or the Golden Globes, which means we get bolder fashion choices to pour over.
Emmys 2016: Best & Worst Dressed
I feel like I haven’t done a red carpet round-up in aaaages! But the awards season is creeping up on us slowly but surely and it all kicked off last night with the biggest TV show ceremony – the Emmys. Game of Thrones and People V OJ Simpson cleaned up (see all the winners here) but my main focus is on the red carpet, of course.
The Boss: Film Review
I usually find Melissa McCarthy hilarious so I was keen to see The Boss, but sadly, it’s just not that funny. Sure, it has some brilliant moments, but a comedy should successfully land way more jokes than this manages to achieve.
Independent Spirit Awards 2015: Best & Worst Dressed
I don’t usually cover the Independent Spirit Awards but this year I simply couldn’t resist because I was seriously impressed with the fashion on the pink carpet – especially Emma Stone who has been nailing it this awards season. Her pantsuit at the Golden Globes was incredible (check it here) and now this. She has been a consistent one, whereas Julianne Moore, who I have been praising a lot recently dropped the ball a bit. I know this is the day before the Oscars so they probably care less about this and would rather save their best for last (and most prestigious) so I’m hope Moore turns it around. I was also so impressed with Kristin Wiig, who looked absolutely fabulous.
Oscars 2014: Best Dressed
I used to do best and worst dressed at every awards ceremony but I think now I’m going to just to best dressed and celebrate the best. There were no massive faux paus (disappointing) but a lot of people played it safe. I’ve picked the ones that I think are totally stunning and glamorous.
Controversial opinions: 1) I haven’t picked Jennifer Lawrence because I thought her Dior dress was plain and I’m not a fan of peplum. I have higher expectations for her. 2) Everyone has suggested Lupita Nyong’o for best dressed but I’m not including her. I LOVED her gowns so far – particularly her SAG gown – but this did not suit her. The dress itself was gorgeous but it did not complement her because it highlighted her bony chest, which I didn’t consider a good look.
So here are my picks:
Sandra Bullock
Cate Blanchett
Margot Robbie (with new hair)
Kristen Bell
Amy Adams
Naomi Watts
And the best pregnancy style….
Olivia Wilde
