The Beguiled: Film Review

I love most Sofia Coppola movies (I still don’t get the hype about Lost in Translation) and I love the cast in this – Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst – so obviously I was excited to check it out and I was not disappointed. It is a fantastic drama simmering with sexual desire and a slow-burning tension.

Cannes 2017: Films to get excited about

The 2017 Cannes Film Festival kicked off yesterday, and as always I’m filled with envy that I’m not there, watching the stars hit the red carpet and seeing the premiere of all these potentially amazing films. For the next ten days, there will be plenty of screenings but there are just a handful that I’m really excited about. Here they are:

Welcome back, folks! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break. Now is the time to look back over the year in film releases and pick my favourites. Top Films for April

It is the start of April so surprise surprise here is my U.K. preview for April! There are quite a few decent-looking movies coming out this month but I’ve managed to whittle it down to just the five best. I still think Criminal, Eye in the Sky and Miles Ahead look pretty decent, but in terms of excitement, the ones below are where it’s at.

The Two Faces of January: Review

2

I was very intrigued about this because it seemed so similar to The Talented Mr Ripley – European setting, a couple joined by a guy who is not who he seems and a blonde wife – but you realise when you watch it that it is vastly different yet nowhere near as good.
