Artemis Fowl was originally supposed to open in cinemas but, when the coronavirus pandemic hit, Disney made the surprising move of offloading its big-budget adaptation of Eoin Colfer‘s novels onto its streaming service Disney+ – but now that I’ve seen the movie, their decision makes total sense. The film is really not good.
Frozen 2: Film Review
Anyone who saw my word-perfect lip-syncing effort to Let It Go during my recent 30th birthday party will know that I’m a big fan of the original Frozen. So I was a mixture of excited and nervous for this sequel and I had every right to be – Frozen 2 is good but nowhere near as amazing as its 2013 predecessor.
Little Monsters: Film Review
The zombie genre has been done to death (pun intended) but somehow Australian zombie comedy Little Monsters manages to feel fun and fresh.
My top 10 movies of 2017
A lot of people have been doing their end of year lists since the start of December, but I like to wait a little longer just in case there is a late entry – I thought The Greatest Showman might have made it (it didn’t) – so here are my top 10 films of 2017.
Murder on the Orient Express: Film Review
I know the reviews for Murder on the Orient Express have been mixed at best but the cast is so incredible that I had to check it out anyway and I’m sorry to confirm that the masses were right – it is disappointing.
A Dog’s Purpose: Film Review
I love dogs and that usually translates to a love for dog movies, but also a sense of sadness when an onscreen dog dies, which is why I struggled with A Dog’s Purpose. It’s trying to be a sweet, sentimental film about a dog’s connection and loyalty to its owners but there’s a lot of dog death to deal with and I’m not sure kids will enjoy that. I certainly didn’t.
OMG! Here’s the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Just yesterday I wrote that the two films I’m most excited about are Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. This must be my lucky week as we got first-look pics of Kingsman and now the freaking trailer for The Last Jedi!
Beauty and the Beast: Film Review
The live-action retelling of Disney classic Beauty and the Beast was under serious pressure to be good because the original meant a lot to my family growing up. Sure, we liked The Jungle Book and Cinderella but Beauty and the Beast is the first of the live-action reboots that I desperately wanted/needed to be good – and I thankfully wasn’t let down.
