Where do I even start with this review?! My mind has been reeling since I watched Avengers: Endgame a few hours ago – there is so much to process and I honestly feel like my brain has been unable to retain everything that happened! But what I do know is that I came away from it satisfied, impressed and very emotional. It’s the end of an era, man!
Sicario 2: Soldado – Film Review
I didn’t love the original Sicario as much as everyone else and I didn’t hold much hope for this instalment knowing it would be without Emily Blunt and cinematographer Roger Deakins, my two favourite things about the first. They were certainly missed in this sequel, also known as Day of the Soldado, which I didn’t like much, yet again.
Avengers: Infinity War – Film Review
Trying to wrangle so many characters and storylines together to make one gigantic crossover movie seemed like an impossible task and I had no idea how the Russo brothers would do it – but somehow they have. Despite the hype and anticipation, Avengers: Infinity War manages to meet expectations and even exceed them. So impressed.
Only the Brave: Film Review
Damn, I was not emotionally prepared for Only the Brave. I honestly didn’t know what it was about and I’m glad I went in without that knowledge because it made it far more shocking and moving.
Hail, Caesar!: Film Review
I love movies based in the movie industry and I do love a good cast and Hail, Caesar! filled both criteria. I was still not 100% confident I would like it because I do not enjoy all the Coen brothers’ work, but I was still hoping for more than what it ultimately gave.
Top Films for 2016
2016 has well and truly kicked off so what better time to look at the movies coming up in the year ahead and get excited about some the releases to come?
Sicario: Film Review
Sicario emerged as one of my ‘films to watch’ following its debut at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It had a lot of buzz and everyone has given it a stellar review, so wasn’t I impressed?! I was excited to see Emily Blunt in this ass-kicking agent role, but her performance is only a highlight as the rest of the film is confusing and nowhere near as good as I was hoping it would be.
Everest: Film Review
I have been excited by this for a while because I like disaster movies, this is based on a true story, it has a stellar cast and it looked amazing. I was not let down. Everest was actually better than I expected. It is by no means perfect but it was gripping, heart-breaking and stunning.
Cannes Film Festival Round-up: What to see?
The Cannes Film Festival is over for another year, so to say farewell, here is my rundown of films that I want to see immediately thanks to the buzz they received in France. Some have secured cinema distribution deals so us mortals who weren’t lucky enough to be in Cannes will be able to see them within the next year (which is still far too long away!)
