One of the my favourite things is when actor owns up to being in a crap film. Obviously during the press tour, they cannot openly admit they hate it but most continue to put a positive spin/angle on all their projects for years, regardless of how well they were received by critics or their box office performance. Jason Bateman on the other hand has rightly admitted a Horrible Bosses sequel was a bad idea, and this makes me very happy.
She’s Funny That Way: Film Review
She’s Funny That Way is a sweet, little ensemble comedy that harkens back to the old screwball capers where everything goes wrong, the web of characters gets all entangled and it is a joy watching it all unravel.
Awards reaction: Boyhood snub and other worthy winners
Last night’s Oscars ended a very long season of film awards and so, with this in mind, I decided to look back over the big winners/losers of this year’s award season and air my grievances.
Cake: Film Review
I had to see Cake to find out if Jennifer Aniston’s performance is worthy of award nominations and the shock at her Oscars ‘snub’. While it is certainly a different role – everyone will notice she’s shunned the make-up and high maintenance appearance – it didn’t really stand out to me and the film itself is incredibly boring and depressing.
Top Films for February
My top film recommendations for this month are:
SELMA
This biopic of civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. depicts a small period in his life where he organises three marches between Selma and Montgomery in Alabama in the 1960s to campaign for the black vote. David Oyelowo gives a storming performance as King and was totally robbed of an Oscar nomination. Review to come. Released: 6th February
Critics’ Choice Awards 2015: Best & Worst Dressed
Awards season is seriously getting into full swing so the stars (actresses in particular) must have a tough job making consistently good fashion choices when they are at red carpets all the time. It will be interesting to see if my front-runners currently will be as strong towards the end.
Horrible Bosses 2: Film Review
This is bigger, bolder and ruder than the original – but that doesn’t make it better. While it was enjoyable and pretty funny, it was too much and totally over the top. Producers clearly went for quantity over quality when it came to the jokes.
Horrible Bosses 2: World Premiere
Tonight, the stars of Horrible Bosses 2 headed to London for the world premiere. The three guys (Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day) are back, but this time they are trying to be their own bosses but their investments are scuppered when the buyer (Christoph) bails on his order. So, naturally, they decide to kidnap his son (Chris Pine) to get their money back.
The three main dudes came to the premiere and they were lovely – so well-mannered, articulate and funny. Bateman seems pretty sensible, Sudeikis a total joker and charmer and Charlie is just adorable – so not THAT different from their characters in the movie.
Big Pics: Rihanna, Katy Perry & Jennifer Aniston
Rihanna
Revealing much?! Rihanna gets her ass out again. I don’t think we’re even surprised anymore!
Victoria Beckham
Victoria takes a pic of herself on a shoot with Ellen Von Unwerth. I wonder what magazine it will be for. I love the heart print!
Katy Perry
Katy seems to be going overboard on the supplements! She posted this pic with the caption: “I’m all about that supplement & vitamin LYFE!” You can see that she takes them three times a day with dinner, breakfast and upon rising written on each bag. That is ridiculous!
Jennifer Aniston
Check out her bod! You wouldn’t think she was 44, she looks amazing! This is a still from upcoming movie We’re The Millers.
Tobey Maguire
This is an one odd shoot with Tobey for Interview magazine. I love it! Not sure about the gold teeth though.
Big Pics: Jennifer Aniston, Britney & One Direction
Jennifer Aniston
What are those white, circular marks on Jen’s back?! The actress has admitted to using the “cupping” remedy where hot glass cups are put on the back to aid circulation and (supposedly) fertility. The technique leaves red marks on the skin for up to week and obviously, she tried covering it up with foundation and the shade just wasn’t right.
Kelly Osbourne
Corr! That is going to hurt! Kelly showed the effects of sitting out in the sun with no protection. That burn is going to itch like hell! You would think she would be old enough to know to use sunscreen!
One Direction
Check out the One D boys with their waxwork counterparts. They actually look really good! I’m so impressed. They were unveiled today at Madame Tussaud’s in London. They will remain there until July.
Miley Cyrus
Miley looks crazy here! I wondered what the heck was going on with her feet but it turns out she is using a foot massager.
Hayden Panettiere
I love the selfies Hayden posts because she is always having a laugh. This one is no different. According to the caption she is “eating her feelings”.
Britney Spears
Doesn’t this picture just melt your heart?! It’s so great to see Britney hanging out with her sons Jayden and Sean. The family headed to a LA Dodgers baseball game.
