Game Night: Film Review

The trailer for Game Night was crap, and given trailers are supposed to show the highlights and encourage people to watch a film, I naturally came to the conclusion that Game Night would be absolutely rubbish. However, I was completely wrong and Game Night is properly entertaining and very funny.

Jason Bateman slates Horrible Bosses 2

jason

One of the my favourite things is when actor owns up to being in a crap film. Obviously during the press tour, they cannot openly admit they hate it but most continue to put a positive spin/angle on all their projects for years, regardless of how well they were received by critics or their box office performance. Jason Bateman on the other hand has rightly admitted a Horrible Bosses sequel was a bad idea, and this makes me very happy.

Horrible Bosses 2: Film Review

boss3

This is bigger, bolder and ruder than the original – but that doesn’t make it better. While it was enjoyable and pretty funny, it was too much and totally over the top. Producers clearly went for quantity over quality when it came to the jokes.

Horrible Bosses 2: World Premiere

IMG_20141112_154758

Tonight, the stars of Horrible Bosses 2 headed to London for the world premiere. The three guys (Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day) are back, but this time they are trying to be their own bosses but their investments are scuppered when the buyer (Christoph) bails on his order. So, naturally, they decide to kidnap his son (Chris Pine) to get their money back.

The three main dudes came to the premiere and they were lovely – so well-mannered, articulate and funny. Bateman seems pretty sensible, Sudeikis a total joker and charmer and Charlie is just adorable – so not THAT different from their characters in the movie.

Films for November

Interstellar

I have been waiting for the release of this epic sci-fi movie for a long time and I am so ready to see this now. The plot is a closely guarded secret but we know that Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway embark on a space mission to save the human race from destructing Earth. I love everything Christopher Nolan does, I think he is a total genius, so I have very high hopes for this. Michael Caine and Jessica Chastain also star. Released: 7th November

This is Where I Leave You: Film Review

leave1

I wanted to see this because it has a terrific cast and looked hilarious. It is not ground-breaking or original but very enjoyable and I liked getting to know this complex web of characters.

The film opens with Judd Altman (Jason Bateman) who lives his ‘perfect’ life until he discovers his wife has been having an affair with his boss. His world is turned upside down and it just gets worse when he discovers his father has died. Judd heads back to his hometown for the funeral and his mother Hilary (Jane Fonda) forces all four siblings – Paul (Corey Stoll), Wendy (Tina Fey) and Phillip (Adam Driver) – to stay in their childhood home for a week per their father’s “dying wishes”.

Gone Girl

I have been excited about this for a really long time and this highly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel does not disappoint. It cannot fault it. Ben Affleck stars as Nick Dunne, who discovers his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) is missing and he is the prime suspect. Did he do it? Check out my review here. Released: 3rd October

Los Angeles celeb sightings!

I am finally back from my holiday in America and here are some of my celebrity spots. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any celebrities out and about despite going to Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive and The Grove. Nothing, which is very sad. So I didn’t see any of them going about doing normal things.

But I did stumble across the premiere of Green Lantern outside Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. Ryan Reynolds, Max Adler (Dave Karofsky in Glee), Blake Lively, Zachary Levi, Tim Robbins and Jason Bateman. Here are some pictures that I took:
