I don’t love everything Joel and Ethan Coen make. They are extremely hit and miss with me, and that’s the perfect way to describe The Ballad of Buster Scruggs – an anthology western movie telling six tales which are wildly inconsistent in tone and entertainment value.

My top 10 movies of 2017
A lot of people have been doing their end of year lists since the start of December, but I like to wait a little longer just in case there is a late entry – I thought The Greatest Showman might have made it (it didn’t) – so here are my top 10 films of 2017.
Top Films for December
It’s the start of December which means it’s time for the next movie preview! Here is my top selection for movies coming out in the UK across December.
The Disaster Artist: Film Review
James Franco hadn’t been in much memorable stuff since 127 Hours in 2010, but he changed that around this year with both TV series The Deuce and The Disaster Artist. His performance in the movie, which he also directed and produced, is his best in years and he definitely deserves a Golden Globe nomination (an Oscar is too far).
Top Films for May 2017
How the heck are we at May already?! I feel you guys. But at least it means we have some great movies to look forward to over the next few weeks. Here are my recommendations.
My top ten: Films I’m excited for in 2017
We are rapidly approaching 2017 so it seems like the right moment to look ahead at what movies we can be excited about this coming year.
Why Him?: Film Review
I haven’t seen a good new comedy in what feels like ages and I must admit Why Him? didn’t seem like the candidate as the trailer didn’t fill me with high hopes and I wondered why Bryan Cranston would sign up for something so poor. I was wrong, Why Him? is actually good and I enjoyed it a lot.
The Night Before: Film Review
I love Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Christmas films, but I wasn’t entirely convinced by this because I felt the trailer had spoiled every bit of hilarity, but there was no need to worry because this is so funny and just brilliant.
True Story: Film Review
True Story is a perfect example of a film which looks amazing and exciting in the trailer when in reality the full-length product is just good. I was hoping for more from this real life true crime tale and it was certainly interesting but it just lacked any excitement, tension or suspense.
