Another night, another red carpet! Last night in LA it was the People’s Choice Awards. The event isn’t as formal or prestigious as the Oscars or the Golden Globes, which means we get bolder fashion choices to pour over.

Trolls: Film Review

trolls

I love a children’s animation and I love a musical so Trolls, based on the popular kids’ toys, has the perfect combination and I loved it so much. If you don’t leave the cinema bopping and singing along, there is something wrong with you.

Grammys 2015: Best & Worst Dressed

yes1

You can always rely on the music industry for an interesting red carpet. So far this year, I’ve just covered movie events and they’ve been pretty boring in comparison. At the Grammys this year, celebs went big – which means the difference between best and worst dressed is radical! It makes writing pieces like this much more fun. The Grammys were on the same night as the BAFTA, which was a total snooze fest fashion-wise compared to this. Be prepared for some crazy outfits to come!

Video Music Awards: Best & Worst Dressed

I haven't counted Katy because hers was done in humour. Very reminiscent of Britney & JT!!

I haven’t counted Katy because hers was done in humour. Very reminiscent of Britney & JT!!

The Video Music Awards always bring out the crazy side of the celebrities and they tend to be more risky and raunchy with their clothing. So I expected the standard of ‘yes’ outfits to be pretty low and I was correct. There aren’t many that I would consider great choices but I’ve managed to select the cream of the crop in my eyes.

Big Pics: Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears & Gwen Stefani

Miley Cyrus

miley

I have to say…Miley’s new image is scary! I don’t think I like her rock chick angle. I just feel like she’s trying too hard to be edgy- check out the way she’s grabbing her crotch! She performed at the VH1 Divas event.

Britney Spears

britney

Is Britney wearing a wig here?! It certainly doesn’t look like her real hair…hmmm. Why doesn’t she just get extensions?! This was at an X Factor event in the run up to the final.

Selma Blair

selma

Just look at Selma’s chest! That is gross. Selma displaying her skeletal body while out with her son Arthur.

Gwen Stefani

gwen

How hot does Gwen look in this picture?! You would never know she was 43. She looks amazing! I hope I look like that at 43.

Darren Criss

Look at Darren in topless glory! The Glee star is posing for a sexy calendar shoot. Producer Ryan Murphy decided to treat his Twitter followers to the picture.

Big Pics: American Music Awards fashion

As usual, I’m going to show you what I consider the best and worst dressed from last night’s AMA ceremony in LA.

SO many celebrities performed, I won’t bore you with the details. Justin Bieber won the most with three awards and Nicki Minaj followed behind with two. They performed Beauty and A Beat together on stage.

To be honest, they aren’t many bad ones! There are a few middle-of-the-road ones but hardly any which sparks a “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!” reaction. I have quite a few best dressed on here but I think my favourite is Taylor Swift. I am loving her fashion choices at the moment. Also, in a surprise turn, Nicki Minaj turned up in a regular awards dress rather than some crazy contraption. I was ambivalent about it but I’m going to include it anyway as it’s so surprising.

No Doubt withdraw new video over racism complaints

No Doubt have had to withdraw their latest music video to single Looking Hot after complains over racism.

In the video, the group are dressed as cowboys and Indians with Gwen being a chained up Native American princess who is being mocked by the cowboys. Later on, she and bassist Tony Kanal, who is also playing an Indian, manage to escape the cowboys’ clutches.

The band insist they spoke to various groups about the content of the video before they put it out. However, just hours after its release, it was withdrawn from circulation- so I haven’t actually been able to see it.

The group wrote a long apology statement on their website, saying, “”As a multi-racial band our foundation is built upon both diversity and consideration for other cultures. Our intention with our new video was never to offend, hurt or trivialise Native American people, their culture or their history.”

“Although we consulted with Native American friends and Native American studies experts at the University of California, we realise now that we have offended people. This is of great concern to us and we are removing the video immediately.”

They continued, “The music that inspired us when we started the band, and the community of friends, family, and fans that surrounds us was built upon respect, unity and inclusiveness. We sincerely apologise to the Native American community and anyone else offended by this video. Being hurtful to anyone is simply not who we are.”

It is unclear whether they will do a new video or just continue without one. They premiered the single on The X Factor last night.

Photo Shoots: Kristen Stewart and Gwen Stefani

Check out these photo shoot previews from Vogue UK and Elle UK of Kristen Stewart and Gwen Stefani.

Kristen Stewart

Here’s Kristen in her first glossy magazine shoot since the cheating scandal. The pics were taken by Mario Testino for UK Vogue.

She told the mag that she has difficulties figuring out how to behave in public.

“People expect it to be easy because there you are, out there, doing the thing that you want and making lots of money out of it.

“But, you know, I’m not that smooth. I can get clumsy around certain people. Like if I were to sit down and think, ‘OK, I’m really famous, how am I going to conduct myself in public?’ I wouldn’t know who that person would be!”

The full interview and pics are in Vogue which goes on sale this Monday.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen looks hot in these pictures from Elle UK. In the accompanying interview, she admits that she finds being a working mum “overwhelming” and worries about balancing her work life and children equally.

The singer said, “Being a mom is hard, I think a lot of working moms feel that way.

“[They want] to have time to be themselves as well but it’s really hard, there’s a price to pay.”

“Once they [her kids] get to, like, five, six and school and it starts to get, like, “Wow, they got real problems. They’re my responsibility…” Oh my God. That is overwhelming.”

She admits that she has a constant battle with herself every day about how she can juggle her career and children because there are “always days that somebody suffers.”

The full interview is in Elle UK and comes out tomorrow.

No Doubt’s comeback single!

No Doubt have released their new video Settle Down which marks their return to music since 2004.

The band went their separate ways to embark on solo projects, most notably lead singer Gwen Stefani released two albums (Love.Angel.Music.Baby and The Sweet Escape) and successful singles such as What You Waiting For?, Hollaback Girl and The Sweet Escape.

No Doubt formed in 1986 but their first two albums weren’t particularly successful. They became well-known with their third album Tragic Kingdom and of course, the single Don’t Speak. Their fourth didn’t go very well either but the follow-up, Rock Steady, made them popular again with hits such as Hella Good, Hey Baby and Underneath It All.

In 2008, they joined forces again to begin working on new material but things got in the way such as Gwen finishing promotion and touring for her second album as well as her having another child. They went back in the studio in 2010 to write songs and make demos and began actual recording tracks in 2011. They announced in May this year that their sixth album, entitled Push and Shove, would be released in September. This is the first single from it.

I do like the track and I think it is a grower and they stay true to their sound BUT I was expecting something bigger and bolder. I didn’t go “wow!”, I just went “hmm…it’s all right” which is disappointing. The video is quite fun and it is good to see Gwen back again. She looks amazing- I swear she hasn’t aged. You would not think she’s 42 with two children! Anyway, check out the video!
