Little Women by Louisa May Alcott has been adapted for the screen many times, so I wasn’t particularly thrilled when Greta Gerwig announced it as her next project, but I love so many of the cast that I was excited for it anyway – and damn, they really deliver.
My top 10 movies of 2017
A lot of people have been doing their end of year lists since the start of December, but I like to wait a little longer just in case there is a late entry – I thought The Greatest Showman might have made it (it didn’t) – so here are my top 10 films of 2017.
Beauty and the Beast: Film Review
The live-action retelling of Disney classic Beauty and the Beast was under serious pressure to be good because the original meant a lot to my family growing up. Sure, we liked The Jungle Book and Cinderella but Beauty and the Beast is the first of the live-action reboots that I desperately wanted/needed to be good – and I thankfully wasn’t let down.

The Colony: Film Review
This thriller, which has been renamed from Colonia in other countries, has been doing the rounds since the 2015 Toronto Film Festival and has finally come to U.K. shores. It hasn’t fared very well critically and isn’t expected to get many bums on seats, which is why I’m here to tell you to give it a shot – it really isn’t as bad as other critics would lead you to believe.
Why you must read The Circle novel before the movie
This week it was announced that Emma Watson would play the lead role in the film adaptation of the 2013 Dave Eggers novel The Circle. It is a technology thriller about a massive Silicon Valley tech giant (like Google or Apple) who gradually unite all the users’ needs, social networks, all Internet activities to the company, so it has almost totalitarian power and can see what anyone is doing at any given time.
