How to Talk to Girls at Parties: Film Review

How to Talk to Girls at Parties was one of the films I was most excited to watch at the London Film Festival, but I wasn’t alone and every public screening sold out, so I had wait until now to see it. Unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to expectations, even though I had a lot of fun with it.

The Beguiled: Film Review

I love most Sofia Coppola movies (I still don’t get the hype about Lost in Translation) and I love the cast in this – Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning and Kirsten Dunst – so obviously I was excited to check it out and I was not disappointed. It is a fantastic drama simmering with sexual desire and a slow-burning tension.

My Cannes 2017 style queens

The Cannes Film Festival is a huge movie event (obviously, the name gives it away) but it also seems to be increasingly about the red carpet. So many celebs hit it when they don’t even have a film to promote or are even in the film industry (see Bella Hadid above) so as Cannes come to a close, I’ve taken a look at some of this year’s best looks.

Cannes 2017: Films to get excited about

The 2017 Cannes Film Festival kicked off yesterday, and as always I’m filled with envy that I’m not there, watching the stars hit the red carpet and seeing the premiere of all these potentially amazing films. You know what time it is! It’s the start of February which means it’s time to look forward to the cinema releases this month brings! There are quite a few awards season favourites finally coming our way as well as some high-profile sequels, such as Fifty Shades Darker, which I have deliberately missed off (I’m not that bothered about seeing it).

Live By Night: Film Review

live-by

Ben Affleck not only acts in Live By Night but he also directed and produced it and wrote the screenplay. That is an unreal amount of work and while he has done well in the past – Argo springs to mind – it feels like he’s taken on too much here and spread himself too thin. He doesn’t really excel in any of the main roles and that results in an average gangster drama.

The Neon Demon: Film Review

neon1

I am not a diehard Nicolas Winding Refn fan – I like Drive and that’s about it. I absolutely hated Only God Forgives, so my expectations were extremely low for The Neon Demon, especially when I read about its crazy content following its debut at Cannes. Because of the forewarning, I probably wasn’t as shocked as I should have been, so for me, the film was fine and I liked it.
