I’m a huge fan of Aaron Sorkin‘s work so of course, I was excited for The Trial of the Chicago 7, which he has written and directed, and he didn’t disappoint – this is one of my favourite films of the year so far.
The Aeronauts: Film Review
I loved The Theory of Everything so I was thrilled to see Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones reunited on screen for The Aeronauts. I had heard so-so things about the film but I quite liked it.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Film Review
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first Fantastic Beasts so I wasn’t excited for The Crimes of Grindelwald and I had pretty low expectations – and that feeling was accurate because the film is just a bit meh.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Film Review
I wasn’t a big Harry Potter nerd but I liked and enjoyed the films so was interested to see how Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them would connect to that world. Like the franchise, it is entertaining and magical but it just lacked a certain something for me. I expect fans to loved it wholeheartedly but I thought it was just good.

Eddie Redmayne and J.K. Rowling at the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them premiere
Tonight the stars of the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hit the blue carpet for the massive two-cinema premiere in London’s Leicester Square including Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Carmen Ejogo, producer David Heyman, director David Yates and of course J.K. Rowling.

This is such a big deal to me – I’ve watched the ceremony for years, been down there as a fan three times and only stopped that because I had to report on the broadcast from home. And this year I was there myself working surrounded by celebs and people who love film, and I was not going to waste this big opportunity. Read inside for all the info:
The Danish Girl: Film Review
The trailers for The Danish Girl brought tears to my eyes and I expected it to be as powerful and emotional as The Theory of Everything, but I can sadly report that I was disappointed. I went in with tissues, preparing to be seriously moved, so I was very surprised by how little this affected me.

A new month and year is rapidly approaching and January brings with it an amazing selection of new films. The month always seems to be filled with stellar movies and Oscar bait and this one is no exception. We also have a lot of movies that have been out in the US for a while so I can’t wait to finally see them. Here are my picks:
