The Lion King remake: Why I’m so worried

Today Walt Disney Studios confirmed they are bringing us a “new reimagining” of their 1993 animated classic The Lion King. This is hardly a surprise as they’ve been doing it for a while with Maleficent, Cinderella and most recently The Jungle Book, an impressive CGI spectacular which I loved and it was a massive success critically and commercially. But The Lion King means far more to me than those titles, so I’m very worried about it being good.

Big Hero 6: Film Review

I had no idea what this movie was about until it opened in America at the end of last year to huge numbers. It is clear to see why. This is the first time Disney have used Marvel ideas as a basis for a movie and it certainly paid off. I didn’t think they could top their last animated feature Frozen but they managed to make a movie just as exciting and fun (even though it doesn’t have musical numbers or a talking snowman).

Demi Lovato confesses cocaine use

Former Disney star Demi Lovato never opened up about drug use during her interviews about her depression, eating disorders and self-harming problems.

Yet when asked in a interview with Fabulous magazine if she had taken cocaine, the 19-year-old didn’t say no.

She replied; “It’s something I don’t really want to talk about. What I can say is that I was depressed. I would come off stage in front of 18,000 people and suddenly be alone in a hotel room. I’d come crashing down and would try and find a way to recreate that feeling to stay up.”

She continued; “Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass.

“I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says “no”. That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me.”

It is surprising that Demi hasn’t confessed to drug use before when talking about her problems but I guess she didn’t want to admit that to her fans. So while she doesn’t explicitly say she has taken drugs, her response definitely seems to imply that was the case.

The pop star went to rehab in October 2011 for three months to overcome her personal issues.
