Blade Runner 2049: Film Review

With sequels, there is always that concern about whether the second instalment with tarnish the reputation of the first, especially one so well-loved as Blade Runner. It was certainly a risk with Blade Runner 2049, which comes 35 years after the original, but luckily they have waited that long to make sure they have created something that is loyal to its predecessor and builds upon its success. No easy feat.

Arrival: Film Review

This isn’t the first time we have seen alien invasion movies where people try to figure a language or a way to communicate with them, such as Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., but this is probably the closest and most detailed look at the challenge and it feels refreshing, thanks to brilliant directing from Denis Villeneuve and a wonderful performance by Amy Adams.
