I’m not a big fan of horror films but I loved the first chapter of IT. I thought it was a terrifying horror but also a funny coming-of-age piece. Naturally, given it’s set 27 years later, Chapter Two doesn’t have that coming-of-age aspect anymore and so I didn’t enjoy it quite as much.
Maggie’s Plan: Film Review
I love Greta Gerwig so naturally Maggie’s Plan was attractive to me, and she doesn’t disappoint. This is a perfect example of Greta Gerwig fodder – funny, verbose and understated. An adorable movie.
Trainwreck: Film Review
Trainwreck has been out in the U.S. for a while now and the reviews have been great so I was expecting a lot from this Judd Apatow rom-com, written by the star Amy Schumer, and it totally delivers. The genre has died off in recent years because they get so formulaic and samey, but this is super smart, witty and totally hilarious.
Top Films for August
It’s that time again… new month, a ton of new movies coming your way and here’s my list of must-see films this August.
Inside Out: Film Review
I have read many statements about Inside Out like ‘it’s one of Pixar’s best in years’ so my hopes were pretty damn high, and I hate to admit, but it fell short. I am not saying it is bad, but I’m also not onboard with those saying it was 100% perfect. Yes, it is very smart and clever but on a pure entertainment level, I will have to say (dun, dun, dun) I prefer Frozen.
