Last night it was the Grammys awards, which is one of my favourite red carpet events because celebs dress bolder. The dress code doesn’t seem to be as serious and formal as the Oscars for example and celebs tend to have more fun – and there were certainly some interesting choices!
In case you have been living in a hole, let me fill you in: Lady Gaga performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show last night and she didn’t disappoint. I have been a fan of hers since the beginning but I haven’t loved her musical output so much in recent years and I was hoping she would eventually do something to come back on top and she has!! Her performance is definitely my favourite since Beyonce’s in 2013.
With the exception of The Weeknd and Little Mix there weren’t any impending music releases I was that excited about in 2016 and I hope that changes in 2017. There are quite a few pop stars we haven’t heard from in ages and I reckon this year is when they drop the much-awaited new material.
Camila Cabello‘s departure from Fifth Harmony wasn’t surprising to anyone. Their friendship looked frosty as hell, they had been dogged with split rumours and she had already been doing some solo stuff. But if she thinks leaving the band is going to be her Beyonce/Zayn Malik/Geri Halliwell/Robbie Williams moment then she will be mistaken. The girl group is not big enough yet and I imagine she will regret leaving so soon.
Today Taylor Swift and Zayn Malik blew our minds by dropping a surprise duet I Don’t Wanna Live Forever. So far, so unexpected. What shocked me further was that it’s for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack! WHAAAAAT?! WTF?! This makes no sense to me in terms of Taylor’s ‘brand’ so I believe it that it can only mean one thing – she is overhauling her image.
You know I love a good red carpet! There were some absolutely gorgeous outfits at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles last night – my favourite was Ariana Grande‘s crop top and white high-waisted trousers. I want this look!
Over the weekend, Joe Jonas was caught with his arm wrapped around Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner‘s neck and having a smooch while watching a Kings of Leon concert in the Netherlands. The matching seems bizarre and from nowhere but the main problem I had was the reporting of it.
The Video Music Awards are the awards show I look forward to the most because it is usually fun, packed with celebs having a good time and present some shocking or ridiculous behaviour. I caught up with the show last night and tbh, I was so bored and tired I almost stopped watching. When did the VMAs become so average and underwhelming?
So I was back at V Festival again Sunday and it was so much better than Saturday in terms of the quality of acts, weather and general enthusiasm. Here are the highlights…
