It’s about to be the start of a new month, which means it’s time, once again, to look ahead to the films coming to UK cinemas this July.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man! Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Peter is heading off on a school trip to Europe, but his plans to woo MJ (Zendaya) and be a normal teenager derail when a new baddie hits the scene. Peter struggles with the new responsibility on his shoulders, but luckily he has help from new superhero Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). My review is coming tomorrow. Released: 2nd July
The Dead Don’t Die
Jim Jarmusch‘s star-studded zombie comedy opened this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is now heading to cinemas. I cannot wait to see the likes of Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Sevigny and Selena Gomez get caught up in some zombie action! Very excited. Released: 12th July
The Lion King
I am a huge fan of the 1994 original and I cannot wait to see this photorealistic reboot. I wasn’t keen on the idea in the beginning but the trailers have swayed me and now I’m excited. I will be an emotional mess for sure. This version has an amazing voice cast which includes Donald Glover, Beyonce, Seth Rogen and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Released: 19th July
The Current War
The release of this biopic has been much delayed so I’m glad it’s finally here. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Thomas Edison and Michael Shannon as Thomas Westinghouse, two electricity titans who are involved in a cutthroat race to see whose system will power the modern world. This sounds fascinating. It has a star-studded cast which also includes Nicholas Hoult, Tom Holland, and Katherine Waterston. Released: 26th July
The Intruder
This psychological thriller looks trashy as hell but I think I’m going to dig it. Meagan Good and Michael Ealy play a couple who buy a house in the country and then discover its previous owner, played by Dennis Quaid, doesn’t want to let it go. I’m interested to see Quaid act all creepy! Released: 26th July
