I’m so ready for Maggie to get her moment to shine in The Walking Dead

I have been growing bored with The Walking Dead and its All-Out War storyline for a while now, so the finale left me really excited because it hinted that things were going to change massively, and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) would be leading the charge.

*SPOILERS* In the finale, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) slit Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) throat and could have easily killed him, but he decided to spare his life and condemn him to jail at the Hilltop/Alexandria. Naturally, Maggie was upset that Negan wasn’t murdered to make him pay for what he did to her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun), and later in the episode, Maggie makes it clear that won’t stand for Negan being alive and forms a plan to rectify that situation with Jesus (Tom Payne) and Daryl (Norman Reedus).

I am so ready for a rebellion! A mutiny within the ranks! This is exciting stuff. And I’m even more excited that it is going to be Maggie going up against Rick and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Since Glenn was brutally killed, she has been gradually getting more power, but needs to have her moment to shine. She has been in charge of the Hilltop for a while, and proved her ruthlessness and authority dealing with the captured Saviors and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) but she’s still largely fallen in line with Rick and been a co-leader of the groups, but now she could be the main leader or maybe even the main villain!!

I’ve been a fan of Maggie for a long time but always felt like she was pushed to the side and more of a supporting character so I’m looking forward to her getting more screen time and being a bad ass!

This is the direction The Walking Dead needs to go in. I was getting fed up of the war against the Saviors – it was going on far too long and just being dragged out, and to be honest it was a bit underwhelming that it ended so peacefully – I wanted a few big names to die, least of all Negan.

So, this Maggie twist is a game-changer. It really gives the series the new lease of life it desperately needed and promises some exciting things to come. Finally!
