Top Films for March

It’s the start of March, aka monthly movie preview time! Here are the releases I’m most looking forward to in March.

Game Night

I thought Game Night was going to be rubbish but it is actually really funny! One of the best studio comedies I’ve seen in a while. Max (Jason Bateman) and Annie (Rachel McAdams) host a weekly game night and things step up a notch when Max’s brother (Kyle Chandler) hosts a murder-mystery game, when the events turn out to be real. Review here. In cinemas now

Tomb Raider

I didn’t really think we needed another Tomb Raider and I liked the Angelina Jolie ones, but I’ve got to check it out to see if my suspicions about Alicia Vikander not being right for the job are correct. I hope she proves me wrong! Released: 16th March

A Wrinkle in Time

I’ve read A Wrinkle in Time so I’m looking forward to seeing this movie adaptation, directed by Ava DuVernay. Meg Murry (Storm Reid)’s father is missing in another dimension so witches played by Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling help her bend time and space to find him and bring him home. Released: 23rd March

Proud Mary

I fear this is release is going to get buried which is why I want to highlight it. I want to see Taraji P. Henson kicking ass and I think it deserves a proper release! She basically plays a hit woman who turns her life around after a meeting a young boy following a hit-gone-wrong. Released: 23rd March

I am so intrigued by Unsane because it was shot on an iPhone. It is a horror/thriller starring Claire Foy who has been involuntarily committed to a mental institution and is confronted by her greatest fear – but is it even real?! I’m very excited to see what goes down here. Released: 23rd March

Isle of Dogs

I love Wes Anderson movies and this animation looks beautiful. It is basically about a boy searching for his dog and features a voice cast which includes Bryan Cranston, Ed Norton, Bill Murray and Jeff Goldblum. Released: 30th March

Ready Player One

I’m not convinced about Ready Player One to be honest – it just looks like one big CGI fest – but since it’s Steven Spielberg and stars Tye Sheridan, I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. It is all about a virtual reality world called the OASIS. Once its creator dies, he leaves clues in the game for users to find his fortune. Released: 30th March
