Top Films for September 2017

You know what time it is! It’s the start of the month which means it’s time for me to look ahead to the cinema releases coming our way over the next few weeks.

Here are my top picks for September:

The Limehouse Golem

This is an intriguing Jack the Ripper style serial killer case led by the always wonderful Bill Nighy. He is trying to unmask the murderer and his suspects include Dan Leno (Douglas Booth) and John Cree (Sam Reid), except Cree is dead and his wife Lizzie (Olivia Cooke) is being tried for his murder. Can the detective figure out both cases at once? This delivers a great story and the cast are awesome. You can read my review here. Out now.

Wind River

We have another murder investigation on our hands in Wind River, the name of a Native American reservation in Wyoming. Wildlife officer Cory (Jeremy Renner) finds the body of a young woman in the middle of a snow-covered forest and helps FBI agent Jane (Elizabeth Olsen) find out what happened to her. This escalates way more than I expected and can be a shocking and uncomfortable watch. Review coming soon. Released: 8th September

American Assassin

I love Dylan O’Brien and it’s nice to see him breaking away from the young adult territory he’s been in forever and starring in this violent, 18-rated action thriller as a counterterrorism agent trained by Michael Keaton. Released: 14th September

We don’t really know much about this psychological horror besides that it stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests show up at their house. The cast list is insane – Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris, Kristen Wiig and Domhnall Gleeson. I can’t wait to discover what happens! Released: 15th September

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

This is a no-brainer. I LOVED the first one, I LOVE Taron Egerton and Colin Firth is also back (not sure how, but I’m intrigued to find out). The cast for this is just insane, with new additions including Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges! Incredible! The Kingsman must team up with their American counterparts the Statesman after their headquarters are destroyed. So excited! Released: 20th September

Goodbye Christopher Robin

Any film starring Domhnall Gleeson would make this list to be honest but Goodbye Christopher Robin looks blooming lovely. It’s a drama about A.A. Milne, the creator of Winnie-the-Pooh, and also stars Margot Robbie. This looks like a heartwarmer. Released: 29th September
