Top Films for June 2017

It’s the beginning of June which can only mean one thing – monthly preview time! Here’s my regular feature where I recommend films for the coming month.

Here are my top picks:

Wonder Woman

This is a no-brainer! The reviews have been awesome and I enjoyed it so much. It is the first movie in the new DC Universe that I have really liked, it is entertaining as hell and Gal Gadot was the perfect choice for the superhero. Here’s my review. Out now.

Berlin Syndrome

I love me a thriller and this is one is really very good. Teresa Palmer plays an Australian tourist in Berlin who is attracted to a local German but after a night of passion she appears to be locked in his apartment. This is so intense and Palmer is fantastic. Released: 9th June

The Mummy

I am still a massive fan of the Brendan Fraser Mummy movies (don’t laugh) so I groaned when this was announced but, judging by the trailer, it is going to be quite different so I’ll definitely check it out. Sofia Boutella plays the new Mummy, who is awaken from her crypt underneath the desert, bringing with her all kinds of terrors. It’s up to Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis to save the day. Released: 9th June

Hampstead

This just looks like a really sweet and charming romcom. And I love a romcom. Diane Keaton is an American widow in London who finds unexpected love in a man (Brendan Gleeson) living wild in Hampstead Heath as they fight to save his home. Released: 23rd

Baby Driver

I’m seriously excited for this one because I love Edgar Wright and the cast, which includes Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey. Elgort plays a young getaway driver who is coerced into getting involved in a doomed heist. Can’t wait. Released: 28th June

All Eyez One Me

Following on from the success of NWA movie Straight Outta Compton, we now have one about Tupac Shakur. The movie basically tells his rags to riches story up until his untimely death from a driveby shooting in 1996. Really very interesting. Released: 28th June
