Top Films for April 2017

It is the start of another month which makes it preview time! Here’s what I’m looking forward to in April:

Fast and Furious 8

It’s hard not to love these highly entertaining action films with their crazy stunt pieces, jazzy cars and the much loved team of rogues. Vin Diesel is back but this time his character Dom has turned to the dark side after being seduced by new villain Cipher (Charlize Theron). Can his “family” win him back? We’ll have to wait and see. Released: 14th

Raw is a coming of age tale with added cannibalism. Yes, you read that correctly. It caused some walkouts at film festivals cos it’s pretty shocking and gross but I’ve also heard it’s very good so I want to check it out. Released: 6th.

Rules Don’t Apply

I love films about Hollywood so I think this unconventional love story will be right up my street. Lily Collins plays an aspiring actress who falls in love with her driver (Alden Ehrenreich) but it has been forbidden by their employer Howard Hughes (Warren Beatty). Released: 21st

Their Finest

I have seen this twice and I love it. It’s just so uplifting, adorable and entertaining and we get to see Sam Claflin like we’ve never seen him before. He plays Buckley, who writes the scripts for moral-boosting films during WWII and hires Catrin (Gemma Arterton) to write the female parts. Romance blossoms while the film goes into production, which is hit by many problems. Here’s my review. Released: 21st

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

I enjoyed the first Guardians of the Galaxy so much so I really hope this sequel is just as good. We basically continue to follow the adventures of Star Lord (Chris Pratt) and his motley crew of pals which include Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) as they unravel the mystery of his true parentage. Exiting stuff. Released: 28th

We get to see Katherine Heigl go all pathological in this thriller. She develops an obsession with her ex-husband and his new wife (Rosario Dawson) and sets out to make her life hell. Could be totally shit but I’m willing to find out. Released: 21st

The Zookeeper’s Wife

I will watch anything Jessica Chastain because I think she’s fantastic and I’m sure her performance in this won’t disappoint. It looks like the kind of true story that will make me weep with happy tears. Here, she plays Antonina Zabinski, who, along with her husband, save hundreds of people and animals during the German invasion of Poland. Released: 28th
