Music comebacks I’m excited for in 2017

With the exception of The Weeknd and Little Mix there weren’t any impending music releases I was that excited about in 2016 and I hope that changes in 2017. There are quite a few pop stars we haven’t heard from in ages and I reckon this year is when they drop the much-awaited new material.

Here are the pop stars I know are dropping new shizz this year, with some I REALLY HOPE are.

Ed Sheeran

This one is a no brainer. He took an entire year off after he finished the cycle for X and announced he was releasing new music THIS FRIDAY. I don’t love every single song of Ed’s but I’m intrigued to see what he’s going to come out with on his next album ÷ . He’s also been releasing little teases on social media and I want to know what it all means.

Taylor Swift

This one is pure hope but considering she finished touring at the start of last year and hasn’t don’t much music-wise since (personal life is an entirely different matter), there MUST be stuff coming. There have been reports she’s been in the studio writing the follow-up to 1989 (which I loved) and her collaboration with Zayn Malik I Don’t Wanna Live Forever feels like the start of a new, possibly sexier phase.

Katy Perry

Where is the music Katy Perry?! Why you taking so long?! Besides her so-so Olympics song Rise, she hasn’t released anything since 2014’s This Is How We Do, taken from Prism, which was released in 2013, aka forever ago! C’mon Katy!

Lorde released her debut album Pure Heroine in 2013! How has she gone for so long without releasing new material?! She has been off the radar for a long time and she’s clearly making her comeback in 2017 given her scheduled performance at Coachella. I’m interested to see what direction she’ll go in.

Avril Lavigne

The Canadian singer recently announced her music comeback on social media. I didn’t love her self-titled 2013 album but I have loved Avril since her debut album Let Go in 2002. I grew up listening to her and I just want her to come out with a big hit and get back on the map as a contender. This is doubtful but we can all hope.

And while he’s been on the scene recently and I couldn’t call it a comeback, I would be very happy if Justin Bieber kept bringing out the bangers during 2017.
