Eddie Redmayne and J.K. Rowling at the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them premiere

045-min

Tonight the stars of the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hit the blue carpet for the massive two-cinema premiere in London’s Leicester Square including Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Carmen Ejogo, producer David Heyman, director David Yates and of course J.K. Rowling.

Although the star of the film may be Eddie, there was no mistaking who the true highlight of the premiere was – the author and screenwriter herself. I have never known a writer incite such screams in a crowd. Every time she moved, they screamed and some even booed when she didn’t sign their book or take selfies.

It’s quite hard to judge how the cast were with the fans because the premiere was so huge and took place on two sides of the square rather than just the usual one, with two stages and two cinemas showing the film. It was quite an undertaking for any movie star and Eddie cracked on with greeting fans as soon he arrived. He seemed very diligent and almost frantically determined to get through as many people as possible and he definitely saw the most fans. He is the only one I saw signing and taking pictures on the Odeon side of the square, despite the heavy rain.

I had previously praised Ezra for how amazing he was with fans at the Suicide Squad premiere and he was no exception here (although not as good). He was THE most enthusiastic and happy person and seemed excited to be there. He was buzzing during his onstage interview, he did a lot of press and he tried to get through the fans as well. Director David was also awesome. Rowling wasn’t so good and I didn’t see Katherine do any and I didn’t see Dan or Alison at all (although they perhaps did more the other side).
