Little Mix, The Vamps & at Summertime Ball: Picture Gallery

Yesterday I went down to Wembley Stadium to catch all the music stars performing at the Capital FM Summertime Ball and it was a lot of fun, except that the big, big acts like Zayn Malik, Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas didn’t do press so I didn’t get to see them. Sad times.

I was looking forward to seeing Zayn as I had seen the rest of One Direction the year before (see here) so wanted to complete the set! I had a feeling he would skip press, but he didn’t even perform in the end. Ariana skipped the media run last time so I had no hope seeing her, but Nick was a surprise as he’s very press friendly and he did it last time. Other no shows on the media run were Jess Glynne, Craig David (devastating), Tinie Tempah and Lukas Graham (he’s a nobody, so I don’t understand that. He NEEDS the promo).

It was a shame that so many people didn’t do it, but I still got to talk to way more people than last year, like Little Mix, who I love. I took so many pictures of them rocking the denim ensemble! Check the gallery below. They are very nice, jokey and are totally professional at handling questions. Obviously everyone wanted to ask Perrie Edwards about rumours she’s dating Dougie Poynter and she gamely replied to those (they’re “just friends”). They talk over each a lot and put on weird voices and accents. I love them. I wish I was more in the moment but I was so nervous trying to articulate my question in my head.

Next were Years & Years and they were very funny. They talk a lot of rubbish and frontman Olly Alexander is simply adorable. He is wearing the craziest yellow trousers I have ever seen. I didn’t get to chat to them but I’m a big fan so I was happy regardless. is an odd one. You never know whether he is being serious or not, or if he’s taking the piss out of your question. But he had energy and good humour. He came up really close to us and was rocking against the barrier and he started dancing to Major Lazer’s set, which could be heard from the press room. He also shook my hand, so I’m going to stay positive on this one.

I didn’t really know who The Vamps were but thanks to a quick Google I managed to form a question in time. They were split off into pairs and I got James McVey and Connor Ball, who were total babes. Very sweet and charming. They shook my hand and looked me in the eye very sincerely. James is hot! He answered my question really well too.

Then there was a stream of lesser-known people, like Sigala, Zara Larsson, Jillionaire from Major Lazer, Clean Bandit and Louisa Johnson and Mike Posner. I spoke to them all (except Zara) and they were very nice and chatty. Mike was an odd one though. He is tough to draw answers from, he doesn’t try to spin shit questions into good lines, he is direct and it’s quite unnerving. I didn’t have a great question for him so I let the guy next to me take another one, yet when Mike was done with our group, he walked past me and said ‘you didn’t get to ask a question, did you want to ask something?’ He looked straight at me and I was shocked cos celebs never notice when a reporter has been missed. I asked about Avicii and he gave me a better answer than he did the rest of those in my group. WIN.

Here are all the pics from my day. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge.
