Top Films for May

It’s that time of the month again – where I choose the releases I’m looking forward to in May. There isn’t a huge amount of good ‘uns but my picks below look pretty damn sweet.

Bad Neighbours 2

I loved Bad Neighbours so of course I wanted to see this. I love Zac Efron, and Seth Rogen & Rose Byrne are hilarious. This time around they have a sorority to contend with, lead by Chloe Grace Moretz. Review coming tomorrow. Released: 6th May

Everybody Wants Some!!

This is Richard Linklater‘s ‘spiritual sequel’ to Dazed & Confused but this time it stars a baseball team in the first days of a new college year. Not much happens but it is very funny and the music is awesome. Review coming next week. Released: 13th May

X-Men: Apocalypse

I’m kinda growing old of the X-Men movies so I’m quite glad this one is reportedly the last. The mutants have to team up to defeat Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the world’s first mutant, who has an evil extinction plan (of course). Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender & co all return while Hugh Jackman is set to make a small appearance. Released: 20th May

Green Room

This is a batshit crazy horror that is bloody, brutal and hilarious all at the same time. Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots and Alia Sawkat witness a murder in the green room of a neo-Nazi music joint run by Patrick Stewart, who will do whatever it takes to make sure the murder stays a secret. Released: 13th May

Money Monster

All hell breaks loose when a financial TV host (played by George Clooney) is taken hostage by an irate investor (Jack O’Connell). TV producer Patty (Julia Roberts) has to try and control the situation. This looks like an intense, nail-biting thriller. Cannot wait. Released: 27th May

Alice Through the Looking Glass

I wasn’t a massive fan of Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland but I’m intrigued by the trailer to this sequel. The effects look incredible. Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returns to Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway also star. Released: 27th May
