Top Films for March

It’s that time of the month again guys – movie preview time! There isn’t a huge amount of exciting releases to choose from in March so the list is more compact than usual. But as the saying goes, it’s all about quality over quantity and there seems to be some pretty decent movies on the horizon. Here are my picks:

Hail, Caesar!

I’m not always convinced by Coen brothers films but this one looks hilarious. I love movies based in the movie world and it has an all-star cast including George Clooney, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson. Clooney is a movie star who vanishes from a movie set in the middle of production. Calamity ensues, obviously. Released: 4th March

I have already seen this and have been raving about it in my review. This is another captivating journalism drama following Spotlight. Cate Blanchett is a producer of 60 Minutes and her team put together a story about George W. Bush based on possibly inaccurate evidence so all hell breaks loose when it is broadcast. Intense and fascinating. Released: 4th March

10 Cloverfield Lane

I love the marketing for this. The project was not revealed until January and the trailer does not give away anything. It is not a sequel to Cloverfield but in the same vein. I loved that so I’m so excited – this is definitely the biggest film of the month for me. Screw Batman and Superman. Released: 18th March

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

I have watched the previous two films and read the books but there seems to be a distinct lack of promotion this time around – what is going on? I’m involved in the franchise now so I must see it through. Feel a bit dubious about it though. Stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James as rebels trying to overthrow the order of their dystopian society. Released: 10th March

I wanted to see this at the London Film Festival but tickets sold out so fat and it’s no surprise considering it stars Tom Hiddleston at his finest. He lives in a self-contained apartment block where life begins to spiral out of control and residents divide into violent tribes. Weird but intriguing. Released: 18th March

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Honestly, I am not sold on this. None of the trailers have made me excited, I don’t dig Superman as a superhero and don’t buy Ben Affleck as Batman. But of course I’m going to see it so I can have a more informed opinion. Henry Cavill returns as Superman while Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luther (again, not convinced). I want it to prove me wrong. Released: 25th March
