Top Films for November

It is that time of the month again and this November, there are some pretty sweet movies on the way as awards season is well and truly upon us. Find out my picks below:

Kill Your Friends

Nicholas Hoult goes all American Psycho on us in this dark comedy-thriller set in the 90s music industry. It is nostalgic; it is cynical, hilarious and very, very violent. Hoult is perfect in the role. Review here. Released: 6th November

Saoirse Ronan proves her stunning acting ability in this heartfelt romance drama about an Irish immigrant moving to Brooklyn. She finds love in New York with Tony (Emory Cohen) but tragedy strikes back in Ireland and she returns home, and becomes torn between both countries and which life she wants to live. Domhnall Gleeson also stars. You can read my review here. Released: 6th November

Steve Jobs

Michael Fassbender dons the turtleneck and specs to play Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in this biopic, which is focuses around three product launches in the 80s and 90s. The script is by Aaron Sorkin and it co-stars Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen, so I have high hopes. Released: 13th November

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II

Well, The Hunger Games is finally coming to an end after what seems like forever. I’m no longer excited if I’m honest but I’m obviously going to go and see what goes down. Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and co. continue to lead the rebels through the districts, working their way to the Capitol to overthrow President Snow (Donald Sutherland). Released: 19th November

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara have major Oscars buzz surrounding them in this romance drama about two women who fall for each other in 1950s New York. This has been raved about during the film festivals and I have been waiting to see it for far too long. I’ll be there first in line when it’s released on 27th November

Black Mass

Johnny Depp looks virtually unrecognisable as real-life mobster Whitey Bulger in this crime thriller about his relationship with the FBI, particularly agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton). This also co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Dakota Johnson. Released: 27th November
