Top film recommendations for July

The month of July is here – I know, it’s come around so fast! – and we are well and truly into blockbuster season. But there are still plenty of others offer so here are top six movies I cannot wait to see this movie.

Magic Mike XXL

Channing Tatum and his gang of merry strippers are back for more hip-shaking, pelvic-thrusting action. Three years after he quit the sexy job, he decides to go on a road trip with the boys to a stripper convention (of course!) Expect lots of sexy dance moves! Read my review. Released: 3rd

Senna director Asif Kapadia has turned his focus to tragic singer Amy Winehouse, sifting through hours of home videos, performance tapes, interviews and songs to make this heartbreaking documentary. This film focuses both on her success and her demise and tissues will be required. Check my review here. Released: 3rd

Ted 2

Mark Wahlberg and his talking bear best buddy are back! Ted and his new wife Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but he first has to be legally recognised as a person, which is where lawyer Sam (Amanda Seyfried) comes in. More ridiculous comedy from Seth MacFarlane, the genius behind Family Guy. Released: 8th

This is either going to really suck or be really great but I will be watching it regardless. Paul Rudd is the latest actor to become a Marvel superhero – but this time his con man character Scott is aided with a suit which can make him shrink in size while becoming more powerful. He uses his powers to help his mentor Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) SAVE. THE. WORLD. Standard. Released: 17th

Inside Out

This latest Pixar animation has had great buzz since its debut at Cannes and I have heard nothing but praise since its release in the U.S. It is basically about the feelings inside a young girl as she moves home to a new city and school. Amy Poehler voices the joy emotion and Mindy Kaling is disgust and each emotion battles for dominance in the child’s life. This sounds totally genius. Released: 24th

I’m sure we have all seen the pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal’s insane transformation into a boxer. This drama basically follows him as his professional career takes off as his personal life hits rock bottom. I’m predicting an Oscar-worthy performance here! Released: 24th

What have I missed? What are you looking forward to?
