Tom Hiddleston’s Loki WAS cut from Avengers: Age of Ultron

For those of you who have seen Avengers: Age of Ultron, you probably noticed that the reported cameo appearance from Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was missing. His Thor co-star Idris Elba dropped the news that he and Tom were in it, but now director Joss Whedon has revealed Idris spoke out of turn (naughty naughty) because Loki’s part had to be cut, simply because there were too many characters in the movie.

He tells MTV News, “Tom is not in the movie. Idris misspoke – twice… We did shoot something, and it didn’t play. The movie has so much, is so filled and we didn’t want to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it, but I understood that it was like, ‘Okay, now there are too many voices in the chorus’.”

I can sympathise with Joss – there are SO many people in this movie and so many cameos from others including Heimdall, Peggy Carter and Erik Selvig.  I love Loki though – he is a brilliant character and I think Tom plays him so well. But, I think the fans like him so much that a cameo would have been distracting. I know for certain that I would have wanted more, so I kind of like having no Loki then having 30 seconds of Loki. Does that make sense?! I assume he would be in Thor’s dream/trippy sequence and that would not have been enough!! I hope we get to see the scene on the DVD though.
