Robert Downey Jr. on THAT interview walkout

Last week during a press junket interview with Channel 4, Robert Downey Jr walked out when the reporter Krishnan Guru-Murthy started asking personal questions about his past (you can see the video and my thoughts on that here).

Downey has finally opened up about the incident and completely blasted the journalist. I know Krishnan was in the wrong asking such a deep question in a quick junket session but Downey wasn’t exactly professional either. Of course, the Iron Man star isn’t going to cop to that, so today in his interview with Howard Stern he just laid into the reporter, calling up a “bottom-feeding muckraker” and “syphilitic parasite”, which is pretty damn harsh if you ask me. It wasn’t THAT bad and Downey should have been cooler about it when talked to Stern. Those phrases are just mean – it was a week ago man, get over it!

Here are more quotes from that Stern interview:

“I just wish I’d left sooner.”

When they say people were on his side: “Well everybody should always be on my side”.

“First of all, I don’t even know the guy’s name, but I know he pulled the same garbage on Quentin Tarantino and Tarantino stayed in his chair and lit him up for five minutes.”

“I’m one of the guys who is always assuming the social, kind of decorum is in play, and that we’re promoting a superhero movie — a lot of kids are going to see it — and this has nothing to do with your creepy, dark agenda that I’m all of a sudden feeling ashamed and obligated to accommodate your weirdo shit.”

“I just realized, too, that I’m a 50-year-old guy, I use fancy words… and yet I’m completely unevolved when it comes down to simple boundaries. Like, ‘You know what? You’re weirding me out. You are a bottom-feeding muckraker.’”

“There’s an assumption that … because you’ve sat down there (in the chair) you’re going to be scrutinized like a kiddie fiddler who’s running for mayor and so what I have to do in the future is … give myself permission to say, ‘That is more than likely a syphilitic parasite, and I need to distance myself from this clown. Otherwise, I’m probably going to put hands on somebody, and then there’s a real story’.”

I sided with Downey before but now I feel like he’s a total douchebag. This was unnecessary. What do you think of him now?
