Insurgent World Premiere: All the gossip

Tonight I saw Shailene Woodley and Theo James AGAIN (two days in a row woohoo!) as they continued to promote Insurgent. The film premiere was definitely geared towards the fans as competition winners were given assigned seating (yes, seating at a premiere!) and they got a special Q&A before the film too, which I thought was very sweet.

It was a shame that nobody else turned up but all the other stars – Kate Winslet, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort – had all recorded video messages to be broadcast. Still, it kinda sucks nobody else could come to the WORLD premiere. It’s kind of a big deal.

What I liked about this premiere was that the stars were efficient and they knew they had a lot of fans and press to cover and they got down to it to make sure everything was done. This is rare and most of the time I return from a premiere with nothing, so I have to give them props.

That being said, they were both clearly tired and lacking enthusiasm for answering questions, which are obviously the same ones they have been asked for the past two days in London at least. They were great with the fans, with Shai even urged some to move back to stop a crush, but they quite awkward in conversation and are really difficult to get any story of substance from.

However, here a few lines from the onstage Q&A:

Theo: “Four gets to beat people up, so I could do that, but in terms of training you kind of look at yourself when you watch the film and think, ‘I’m a shell of the man I was’ because obviously you can’t do it all year.”

Shailene: “The nice thing about stunts is that you’re sorta guaranteed safety in a way and that particular stunt (the burning house) they had this platform on a hydraulic machine that they would tilt in different directions and you’d slide, run up… they hired an amazing Cirque du Soleil dancer to do all of the wire work so she made Tris look extra graceful which I’m very thankful for.”
