Top Films For February

Dallas Buyers Club

Judging by the Golden Globe awards the lead actors got for this, I expect it to be amazing. Matthew McConaughey portrays the real-life Ron Woodroof, who is diagnosed with HIV at a time when the medication available in the US is not effective. He smuggles non-FDA approved drugs into the US and sets up a members club for other AIDS sufferers.

Cuban Fury

I’m sort of scrapping the barrel here but I’m really not bothered about most of the movies out this month. As the ones on offer go, I think this will be pretty funny because I love Nick Frost but would never have placed him in a salsa dancing competition movie. I imagine it will follow the same formula as other dance flicks but the British humour will make it enjoyable nonetheless. It also stars Olivia Colman, Rashida Jones and Chris O’Dowd.

Her

This looks so different and interesting. Joaquin Phoenix stars as a man who falls in love with his interactive operating system, named Samantha (voiced by Scarlett Johansson). Also starring Amy Adams, Olivia Wilde and Rooney Mara.

Non-Stop

This is another Liam Neeson action vehicle, this time aboard a plane. He plays an air marshal who ends up in a sticky situation when he gets blackmailed – if doesn’t get the feds to transfer a ton of money, a person will be killed every 20 minutes. There are a few twists and turns and it is a major whodunnit- which I love! Also starring Julianne Moore and Lupita Nyong’o.

There are many other movies out this month but they don’t grab me at all: Here’s a list of the big ones- Robocop, The Lego Movie,  The Invisible Woman, Mr Peabody & Sherman, Endless Love, The Monument’s Men, A Winter’s Tale,  The Book Thief and Ride Along.
