Bradley Cooper talks about living with his mum

2013 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach

You would think that Bradley Cooper would have enough money to live on his own, but no. He revealed that he has been living with his mum Gloria since his father died from cancer two years ago.

The actor admits there are complications but they are there to support each other as they haven’t fully got over his death.

He revealed to Details magazine: “Let’s face it: It’s probably not easy for her, by the way, to be living with her son. It’s life. And right now, two years after my father’s death, this is where we are. My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped. And we need each other. So here we are.”

He continued: “But don’t get me wrong. It’s not without complications. It’s not like I live in a compound and she’s in the guesthouse. No. She’s in the next room. But here’s the thing: She’s a cool chick. We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way.”

I think it’s really sweet that they have each other and that they care about each other enough to live together, because that must be hard. No matter how cool his mum is, he is 38-years-old so it must be challenging. It is clear how much his father’s death has affected Bradley and his family. He explained how it made him come to terms with the idea of his own death.

On the set of his next movie, which is currently untitled.

He said: “Oh, right, I’m going to die too.’ Here it is. It’s not in a book. It’s not in a movie. It’s not in a story that was told to me. It’s not driving by an accident or watching it on TV. It’s someone you love dying in front of you… I was like, ‘Okay. This is death. And this is going to happen to me one day.’ There was a huge freedom that came with that.”

This is really sad story and I see another side to Bradley when he opens up about his family. He seems to like talking about his dad’s death since he first opened up about it. Poor guy.

  1. This story just makes me love him even more… ;o)
