Ryan Gosling takes a acting break

In very sad news, Ryan Gosling has decided to step away from acting for a while because he thinks he needs to get perspective on his career.

He explained: “I’ve been doing it too much. I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing.I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”

I don’t think the audience wants a break, Ryan! He has done a lot but we aren’t complaining. Since 2011, he’s been in Crazy, Stupid, Love, Drive, The Ides of March, Gangster Squad and The Place Beyond The Pines. That’s not THAT much compared to some other actors though. I don’t feel like he’s in everything and there is quite a gap between films. Obviously, I see things differently to Ryan!

He said: “The more opportunities I’m given, the more I learn about how easy it is to f*** it up. You fight for freedom and then you get it, and then you have enough rope to hang yourself. It’s like trying to exercise some restraint, because I do have so much freedom.”

I guess the 32-year-old is just worrying he’s going to pick some bad parts. Don’t worry too much though, The Place Beyond The Pines is released next month and also features Bradley Cooper and Gosling’s real-life girlfriend Eva Mendes. He has also filmed Only God Forgives, in which he plays a drug smuggler. That is due for released in France in May but has not been given a release here so far.

After that though, we may not see him for a while. He is due to direct his first film, How To Catch a Monster, which he has written himself. Doctor Who’s Matt Smith and Christina Hendricks have been attached to the film.

It is sad but I honestly reckon he will be back quicker than we think. Once he’s taken a step back and done his own movie, I reckon he will ready to head back to starring roles. That’s what I’m hoping for anyway.
