Justin Bieber apologises for O2 show starting two hours late

There were many angry Justin Bieber fans out there last night after the teen pop star began his four night stint at the London O2. He came onstage almost two hours later than scheduled which meant many of his younger fans had to leave earlier into his set.

Fans claimed that Justin was supposed to come at 8:30pm yet he took to the stage at 10.20pm, meaning the show was seriously overrunning and most people couldn’t stay until the end. Considering how much tickets for his Believe tour cost, you can understand their anger, particularly as it was a week night and his main audience are of a school-going age.

Justin, 19, had obviously had enough of everyone hating on him on Twitter that he wrote a lengthy explanation blaming “technical issues.”

He wrote: “Last night i was scheduled after 3 opening acts to go on stage at 935 not 830 but because of some technical issues i got on at 10:10..so i was 40 min late to stage. there is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset. However it was great show and Im proud of that and tonight we will run on time and look forward to putting on an amazing show for everyone in attendance.”

He also made a dig at the UK press while make his apology, saying “it hasn’t been easy with the press”- perhaps he is trying to get some sympathy from his fans.

He ended with: “My relationship with the media is not always easy but im trying. Im all about the music and the performance and i respect my fans. I never have any intent to upset or let anyone down. and Im not okay with things being exaggerated. once again sorry for anyone upset. Now we have a show to do today and Im gonna focus on the positive and put on a great show tonight here in London.”

Whether he is telling the truth or not, I’m impressed that he even spoke out about it. I have seen Rihanna and Lady Gaga and they were both an hour late (Rihanna was longer) and never apologised for it at all. I paid loads for a ticket and then had to leave before the end, so I understand how the fans feel. Yes, his fans may be angry but they will still be his fans, like I am of Ri etc. However, I haven’t bought tickets for their recent tours because I didn’t think it was worth it.

Big name singers will always do as they please and even though it is wrong, it is refreshing that Justin even acknowledged it.
